My friend Nicole took pictures of her boy each month with a little sign like this one. I decided to steal her idea, although I didn't make a sign for month one (oops). Anyway, Jett is growing leaps and bounds and is getting to be a bit of a chunky chunkerson, which I love. He is so kissable, I know he is going to get lots of love from family members during the holidays. Can't wait!

Fun pics of Jett!

Yum...chewing on Daddy's finger.
I swear...he was just smiling a second ago!
Here he is a little confused as to whether he's happy or grumpy.
Already getting annoyed with mom's millions of kisses!

Cousins

Da da da dum...the cousins meet for the first time! Ben drove home with a surprise this weekend and we were able to have a quick visit with "Aunt" Kristen and "Cousin" Sawyer! Yay! And thanks to soy, Jett was able to enjoy it all (evidenced by the baby grin). We aren't really sure how aware they were of each other, but at one point we thought Jett was looking over at the 'other' baby (maybe trying to figure out if it was a mirror, although clearly he would be looking at a mini version of Matt).
These are the only two pictures I have on my camera of the cousins, so you'll have to visit Kristen's blog for others.
This picture clearly shows the difference in heads. Sawyer looks like he may be a future triathlete while apparently Jett is going to be a weightlifter ("where's the gym"). This picture is a full body comparison...I have to admit that Jett's pants are just a little high on the waist, so he looks like he has an even shorter torso than he does. We determined that Sawyer has a long torso and Jett has long legs (finally something I can claim he inherited from me).
One final note (Matt, close your eyes, unless Kristen is reading this out loud, then close your ears)...both boys have a tint of red in their hair. This must be the gene tying them together as cousins.
Well, I am loving the fact that Jett now can take naps since he is no longer colicky and suffering from an allergy. On the other hand, I find that I am now spending way too much time on the computer. I have a list of things I've been meaning to get to, and so far I have only blogged, posted on FB, emailed and written a letter. Sheesh...it's a good thing Ben takes care of the house on the weekends or I'd never have a clean dish to eat on (oh, and Kristen is a very neat house guest, so if any of you readers would like to have her over, I'd recommend it. You may even get breakfast.)!

Baby Jett is getting so cute...I'm not sure how he can get any cuter, but it's happening before my eyes! He really likes the morning (must get that from his dad) and being on the changing table is his most favorite thing - at least, that's where he does his smiling, so maybe it has to do with that fresh clean feeling of a new diaper! P.S. Don't mind the mommy baby talk voice...that's sure to be in every video. I'm just trying to check myself so that I don't talk to adults in that voice!

First Halloween Card

I snapped a couple of pictures of our little guy with Meme's Halloween card. Inside is his first $1 bill, so we'll have to put that in to a bank account (or rather, invest it in gold) because before we know it he'll be asking us for gas money!
I realize I am a bit of a party pooper because for Halloween I didn't do any dressing up (of me or Jett) or go to any events. I stayed home and tried to figure out a way to get this little stinker to sleep. I am happy to report that although his sleeping habits are still erratic, he is feeling much better on soy formula. I am off dairy and am giving the breastfeeding a little while longer, but we have had a number of obstacles, the newest of which is thrush (thanks to the anti-biotics I took for my second bout of mastitis), but we are working to clear that up. His eczema is also much better since using some hydrocortizone ointment on it - that is amazing stuff and I feel bad I didn't use it sooner on the poor guy's face...chalk it up to a learning experience (I find myself saying that way too much lately). So to tie this back in to being a party pooper, um, well, you'll have to tie that one together yourselves!
More pictures to follow...

Howell-o-ween 2009

So I got an extended weekend home from work to celebrate Howell-o-ween with my wife and son. We went and got pumpkins at a place up the street, and the guy selling them looked like a clone of the farmer that shoots his cow on Napoleon Dynamite. I didn't want to ask if they were one in the same, but he did turn out to be from Preston, Idaho.....so who knows? The Hosmans came over to carve the pumpkins with us. Jett wore his celebratory Halloween gettup with his ghost bib and underneath a shirt which said I'm so cute it's scary, which by the way is true. He didn't sleep much during the day so he was too cranky to attend the Ward trunk-or-treat so I made an appearance with Clint Hosman and we handed out candy to all the kiddies and hassled the teenagers who weren't dressed up but still trying to scam some candy. Just a pointer to our Hispanic viewers, Halloween is not the American version of Dia de los Muertos. It is expected that as an adult you escort your children who should be wearing costumes, and should say, "trick or treat" preferably in English but we won't refrain from giving candy if you make some effort. Furthermore it is a children's holiday so adults traditionally don't receive candy in America on Halloween. Also it is a nice gesture but again not mandatory to say, "Thank you" after receiving the candy. This is just to serve as a friendly cultural reminder. Happy Halloween!

This was the last time Jett was going to fit in to this cute outfit Meme bought for him. I love the duck feet especially. Little stinker bug! As a side note, the rash on his face, which started out as baby acne (presumably) is due to an allergy to milk protein. We have switched to soy formula and well, breastfeeding is hanging on by a mere thread (details too many to include here). So far he seems to be doing much better on the soy, but only time will tell. Stay tuned...
